Award for Best Article in the History of Economics

In 1995 the Society established an annual award for Best Article in 
the History of Economics during the previous publication year. Beside 
the honor, there is a stipend of $500 plus travel expenses up to $500 
to attend the presentation at the Society's annual conference.

Eligibility

Any article in the history of economics or economic
thought published in English in the calendar year preceding the next 
Annual Meeting of the Society is eligible (e.g. calendar year 2009 for
Annual Meeting in June 2010). It is recognized however, that despite 
official publication dates, many publications are shipped after year
end. In such cases, relevant articles that are in 'proof' form, with 
accompanying evidence of the journal and its year of publication, may
be accepted at the discretion of the Chair of the committee.

Nomination process

The Committee considers all nominated articles as well as all 
articles published in the Society's journal: Journal for the History of
Economic Thought. The committee may not ask editors of journals for 
their nominations as editors, but editors may nominate in a personal
capacity. Nomination of an article by its author is welcome.

The Committee consists of Manuela Mosca (this year's prize winner), 
Masa Wakatabe, and Glenn Hueckel.
