Maybe they picked up the story from the unreleased 3rd part to the Star
Trek NG "Time's Arrow" storyline, where Twain ends up at Woodstock and
decides he wants to shred like Hendrix, Santana, and Townshend.  He snags
himself a Fender, but, after being returned to 1893, he finds his amp
doesn't work with the electrical options from the time.  Disappointed, he
smashes the guitar and sticks to the piano...
