Women were deliberately excluded from Hayek's first club, the Geistkris, because, apparently, they wished to “avoid a particular woman” and also had a fear that “male members would continue to suggest whatever girlfriends they had as members.”  

Why was Veronica Wedgwood (a seventeenth century historian) invited to his second, the Mont Pelerin Society?
