I know, I know, the reference is remote--but for anyone keeping track of
Twain in popular culture, the new James Bond novel--Devil May Care by
Sebastian Fauks--has a climatic scene set on a Mississippi riverboat
called the Huckleberry Finn. The baddie gets caught in the paddle wheel
and goes around and around before sinking out of sight. As it happens,
the riverboat is in Paris--and the action takes place while a minstrel
band plays.

I now return you to more scholarly posts . . .
