Some time ago there was a listserv discussion about the portrayal of Archives in popular culture - literature, movies etc.

If this project is still being pursued (or for general interest) check out The House Girl by Tara Conklin - especially pages 277 and 300. (The main character, Lina, ends up using cotton socks to handle an historic document because she doesn't have gloves, but has been instructed not to touch without them...)
