The entry in the calendar says:

Adam Smith (June 5, 1723 ­ July 17, 1790)

Is it fair to say that taking into account the 
dates and calendars, Smith's birthday could not 
be June 5? He was baptized on that day, or on 
June 16, depending on the source and calendar 
used. That brings us back full circle to Riccardo 
Faucci's post that the exact date is unknown. How 
do you put that on a calendar?

Thanks to all for an enlightening tour. It was 
especially fascinating to know from Judy Klein's 
post about the different treatment given to matters involving property rights.
