Joyce Cohen and Hal Holbrook made me aware of this outrage and encouraged me to share it with the Mark Twain Forum.

A legendary teacher in LA was just removed from the classroom for teaching Twain. Read about the school district's abominable decision here:
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-esquith-investigation-20150617-story.html

Here is more information about this amazing, award-winning teacher, Rafe Esquith:

Post comments in support of Esquith on the LA Times blog or write letters expressing your views to:
L. A. Unified School District, 333 South Beaudry Avenue, Los Angeles, CA. 90017

Thanks!
Shelley
