After years of searching for a reasonably priced set of Gale's
two-volume facsimile manuscript edition of _Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn_/, /I was recently delighted to find the books available on eBay
for only $49 plus $6.23 for shipping. After buying two sets, I learned
that the dealer has at least two dozen more sets--all still in their
original shrink wrap. Just over 1,000 numbered boxed sets of the books
were issued in 1983 at a price of $250 per set. This edition, it should
be noted, does not include the manuscript pages that were discovered
during the early 1990s, but until a more complete facsimile edition is
published, the $49 price represents a terrific value.
I have no connection with the eBay dealer other than that of a customer.
I am passing along this information in the hope it is useful to other
forum members. Here's a link to the eBay page:

P.S. I should add that over the years, I've made four or five attempts
to buy the facsimile edition online at bargain prices. Until now, every
time I tried to do that I got the same cheap reprint edition of the
novel. I think that's because of a mix-up in the ISBN's. I mention this
because if you seen the facsimile edition listed anywhere for less than
$50, the listing is probably for that other edition. Inquire before you buy.
