I became aware of this essay thanks to Anita Taylor Doering, Senior
Archivist & Archives Manager La Crosse Public Library.  She sent me a
PDF copy but I have since found it downloadable at

It provides a nice summary of the Wisconsin portion of the Twain-Cable
tour of 1884-85.  He never once refers to it as a Twins of Genius tour
and downplays any animosity there might have been between Twain and
Cable. "...--and it is reasonable to say he simply lost patience at
times for all the traveling and work, and for the January weather in
Wisconsin."  I would appear that Sam's evaluation of George as a louse
was strictly for Livy's eyes alone.
