Dear Colleagues,

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and the Canadian Council of Archives
(CCA)
are pleased to announce that funding for digitization projects will be
available in fiscal year 2004-2005.

Funding will be provided through the Canadian Memory Fund, as part of the
Department of Canadian Heritage's Canadian Culture Online Financing
Program.
Up to $1.2 million will be made available to the archival community, and
projects will be funded, as in the past, at 50% of total eligible expenses.
LAC and a Steering Committee comprising representatives from CCA, LAC,
NPTAC, the educational community and the historical community, will be
directing this initiative.

All applications must propose the development of unique, digitized, online
cultural content, available free of charge via the Internet. At LAC,
GeneviPve Allard, Project coordinator, will be available to provide
additional assistance to the community. We strongly urge you to contact her
at (613) 324-9373 or by e-mail at [log in to unmask]

The deadline for the submission of applications is May 7, 2004. The
guidelines and criteria, as well as an application form, have been created
specifically for the archival community and will be available Monday, March
29, at www.cdncouncilarchives.ca. In the meantime, you may consult the
Department of Canadian Heritage's Canadian Memory Fund criteria at
ww.canadianheritage.gc.ca/progs/pcce-ccop/progs/mem_e.cfm.

324-9373; courriel : [log in to unmask]).
