Can anyone with a better knowledge than I of Amartya Sen’s work on the 1943
Bengal Famine throw light on the following matter? Historical sources
suggest that hoarding of small coin was an important, or even the primary
cause of the famine. Yet summaries of Sen’s work do not seem to mention
that matter at all. Did he ever deal with that suggestion?
