On Sunday, October 5, 1997, the Cleveland Plain Dealer _Sunday
Magazine_ featured a perceptive, well-written and highly
entertaining five-page article by political satirist and
activist, Barry Crimmins, a Forum member who lives in Lakewood,
Ohio. The article entitled (by the editor) "Mark Twain and Me" is
more appropriately subtitled (by the author), "Sympathy for the
Devil's Advocate."

Accompanying Barry's essay are a number of photographs of Mark
Twain and three side-bars: "Twain on the Web" (in which both the
Mark Twain Forum and Jim Zwick's magnificent Mark Twain web site
are featured.); "Twain in his own words," is a small collection
of MT quotes; and "Twain is Everywhere," a list of the best
recent editions by or about Mark Twain. The Mark Twain Project is
also featured, with news of the cut in NEH funding--along with an
appeal for public support of the Project to "help hold the line
until the government once again learns the meaning of the word
'priceless.')"

Unfortunately, the Cleveland Plain Dealer does not have the
_Sunday Magazine_ available at a web site. However, anyone
