Hi, fellow Twainiacs.
This being the sesquicentennial of the Jumping Frog story, first published
in *The New York Saturday Press* on Nov. 18, 1865, I plan to approach the
powers that be here in NYC (not including Ron P., unfortunately) with a
proposal to co-name a block of Fifth Avenue in Mark Twain's honor.
If anyone cares to have a look at the first draft of my pitch letter
(online at www.salwen.com/MTWay.pdf) and help me fine-tune it, I'd be glad
of the assistance.
More importantly, I may also start an online petition via Change.com to
test the waters and hopefully garner support for the idea, and I hope at
least some Forum members might want to join in that effort by forwarding
the link and information to your own correspondents.
I look forward to hearing from any potential supporters, and thanks, all,
for your attention.
