Dear Jeff,
To the best of my ability to assemble them in 1980, the journals to which the Clemenses subscribed or alluded appear in MARK TWAIN'S LIBRARY: A RECONSTRUCTION. The reason they are not included in the index is that they are already conveniently listed alphabetically as separate entries throughout the two volumes. ATLANTIC MONTHLY has its place in the A's, and so forth.
I apologize for the out of print status of this work. For the past decade I have been using my free time to update and expand MARK TWAIN'S LIBRARY, but there are literally hundreds and hundreds of items to be added. I'm rewriting old entries and inserting new ones nearly every night and weekend. The number of new discoveries like Twain's copy of Malory and fresh deductions made about his notebook jottings and allusions in his letters, together with the recent purchases of previously undocumented volumes by major collectors and collections is simply staggering. I'm pedaling as fast as I can!
Regards,
Alan

Subject: Twain's subscriptions
Greetings,
Could anyone point me towards a source that details the American and/or
British journals to which Twain subscribed and/or read regularly? Is
such a thing in Alan Gribben's _Mark Twain's Library_ (a book to which,
unfortunately, I don't have access at the moment)?
A quick look through the indices of my biographies (Justin Kaplan,
Everett Emerson, Ron Powers) turns up only references to journals in
which Twain published or journals which reviewed his work.
Thanks in advance,
Jeff Miller
