Dennis Welland, in "Mark Twain in England" (London: Chatto & Windus, 1978),
page 203, discussed the final selection of material for the English edition
of Mark Twain's "The Man That Corrupted Hadleyburg and Other Stories and
Sketches" (1900).  

Mr. Welland said that a story entitled "How I Dined with the Queen" was
among those considered for inclusion in this volume.  Apparently the
publisher, Andrew Chatto, had the story in hand, and discussed it and others
in correspondence with Twain.  For some reason, the story was not included
in either the American or the English edition.  Perhaps Chatto learned from
Twain that it was not genuine?  Mr. Welland said that the story "is not
readily identifiable" (203).

Merle Johnson's "A Bibliography of the Works of Mark Twain" makes no mention
of a story by that title appearing in either the American or the English
edition of "Hadleyburg," or in any other context.

Did Mark Twain write a story entitled "How I Dined with the Queen," and if
so, was it published?
