Hi Wendy,
When I came to Hudson's Bay Company they had not had a Records Manager for
over 25 years. They had been using an unstaffed distribution centre to
store inactive (and often archival records). I have made a 7 minute video
of the BEFORE, TRANSITION and AFTER of the clean up. I will be using this
video at the ARMA Region VIII Conference in London on Wednesday June 2, but
other than that I have no plans for it. Would you like to borrow a copy?

Subject: Hitting a Nerve - Disaster Planning

Apologies first for duplication, and second for bringing up a
painful
        subject.

In my work, I do some consulting for groups wanting to set up
archives.
In that capacity, I encourage them to think about the big picture,
which
        must [IMHO] include disaster planning.

I have been invited on occasion to give a talk or a workshop to help
members of the group understand what is required, how to do the
        planning, etc.

What I could really use is some visuals. Would anyone be willing to
share photos that demonstrate what a wet/mouldy/sooty/whatever
archives
looks like? [I can give credit or hide identities to protect the
innocent] I'm also looking for photos illustrating the stages of
        cleanup.

Please respond off-list, or if you prefer to talk to me in person
I'll
be at the ACA/AAO conference on Saturday.

        Many thanks in advance,

        Wendy
