Perhaps a plug for Warren Samuels' work on the Invisible Hand would be
appropriate here. Warren has amassed and catalogued a vast array of uses of
the "invisible hand" among economists and others both after Smith and
before. A book summarizing the conclusions of his research is forthcoming.
