Photo Archive Assistant
The Markham Museum and Historic Village is seeking a Photo Archive Assistant
for the period June 26 - Sept 8, 2000 inclusive. This is a temporary
full-time position, 35 hours per week, paying $8.50 per hour, with funding
by the Young Canada Works in Heritage Institutions.
The successful candidate will, under the direction of the Curator, assist
the Archival Project Manager with a Millennium Photo Archive project. The
project includes the active collection of photographs of Markham from the
first half the 20th Century to enhance our current collection. A final
stage involves the initiation of the digitization of the museum photo
collection. The project includes the preparation of the archival storage
area for acceptance of the new collection and further documentation of our
current holdings.
Applicants should have a demonstrated interest in history and archival
study. Applicants should currently be pursuing a degree or diploma in
Museum studies, Information Science, History, or related field.
