Dear list member
Last week Archeion (http://archeion.ca) was upgraded to the latest version
of the ICA-AtoM software. This has fixed bugs in the earlier version and has
introduced a new display for archival descriptions with multi-level
hierarchies (you can see an example here: http://tinyurl.com/ptusurn).
After the upgrade, saving new records became very slow for a while, but this
issue was resolved yesterday by our colleagues at Artefactual, so if you're
using the site to share information about your records, you should find that
it is back to normal now.
And just a reminder: every institutional member of the AAO is able to
contribute information to Archeion and there is a gigabyte of free storage
space on the site for your digital images if you are keen to describe your
materials down to item level and want a place to share the images online.
(You can also link to images held elsewhere from your descriptions in
Archeion, if they're online already.)
If you're not in a position to share RAD descriptions on Archeion yet, you
can still have a page about your institution on the site, describing your
opening hours and linking to your own website (e.g.
http://tinyurl.com/prn7fvw). Just send me an email and I can set a page up
for you or give you an account on Archeion so that you can create one
yourself. Or grab me if you're coming to the AAO conference next week and we
can set it up there and then!
Amanda
