Anders Chydenius (1729-1803), the "Adam Smith of the North",
maintained his own orchestra, and rehearsed with them. They gave
concerts in the rectory's reception hall (Chydenius was rector of
Kokkola, Finland, since 1770). They played contemporary music by
continental composers.
There is a CD, "From the Music Collection of Anders Chydenius",
recorded by the Osthrobotnian Chamber Orchestra from Finland, see
