I found the premise funny in a sort of meta way, but the execution was puerile. I think people are used to hearing all sorts of "quotations" from Mark Twain, with some awareness that he didn't actually say everything attributed to him. I think this piece is probably meant to play on that sort of expectation and awareness.
But I would agree with anyone who says the piece hits very wide of the "mark".
