I know that Twain lampooned Sherlock Holmes in "A Double-Barrelled
Detective Story" and referred to him briefly ("the late Sherlock
Holmes") in FOLLOWING THE EQUATOR.   In Stanley Weintraub's  THE LONDON
YANKEES: 1894 - 1914,  Conan Doyle is listed among "old friends" Twain
encountered in London society in the year 1900.  Does anybody know where
might I find more on the relationship between Twain and Doyle?
