Dear Colleagues:

Unsolved Mysteries: What happened to the proposed Ontario private sector privacy
legislation?

The Ontario Privacy of Personal Information Act was to be tabled in the Legislative
Assembly in late September or early October. However, the bill is currently in Cabinet.
I understand that the reason for delay may be that several provincial ministries have
expressed concerns with the draft legislation.

Nevertheless, once the bill is tabled, representatives from the Ministry of Consumer and
Business Services remain committed to meeting with archival representatives to discuss
the regulations and to resolve the outstanding archival issues.

Best Regards,
Loryl MacDonald
