CONTRACT ARCHIVIST
The Scotiabank Group Archives is an information centre maintained by the
Scotiabank Group to protect, preserve & facilitate the use of permanent-value
records in all media. Exercising initiative and judgement in responding to the
frequent unusual situations that arise in a research facility, the candidate
should be a team player, with excellent oral and written communication skills,
who has demonstrated experience in processing and managing archival records.
This 8 week contract, running from February 14, 2000 to April 7, 2000, will
involve: the appraisal of corporate records, the processing of those records
according to standards established by the Canadian Council of Archives, using
the procedures of the Scotiabank Group Archives; and the creation of a RAD
Finding Aid.
The candidate must possess an undergraduate degree in History or a related
discipline, an MAS, or other post secondary archival education, have formal RAD
training and experience in creating RAD finding aids, possess demonstrated
historical research skills, and be experienced in the archival appraisal of
business records.
