Hi Susan.

Yes, this book is from Twain's own library at Stormfield, as confirmed by
its red accession number.

I want to believe he used it - he was an admirer of Fiske - but all I have
to go on are some pencil marks made against certain sentences throughout the
book. This was something he often did in his books. One sentence in this
book reads, "At a time when there was as yet no English literature for the
common people, this untold wealth of Hebrew literature was implanted in the
English mind as in a virgin soil." But there is no other marginalia. The
book was published in 1889, and was purchased from Brown & Gross
Booksellers, Hartford, CT.

Heather.
