Out of curiosity, can anyone
>tell me if Twain was influenced at all by Charles Brockden Brown or John
>Milton?

I can tell you that Twain apparently loved Milton, alluded to his works
often, and I believe he read from Milton's poems aloud at home on some
occasions. He also poked fun at him in certain speaches, I think. See
_Mark Twain's Library_ entry on Milton.

That same reference lists no volumes by Brown in Twain's library.
