Health Extension
Health Extension (formerly called Tel-Med) started in 1986. The Service offers
a taped library of health information available over the telephone 24 hours a
day. The service has been identified as "one of Canada s most dynamic
community-based health information services" (Health Canada, 1993). The
information is free and confidential. The system is completely computerized and
offers easily accessible assistance from a trained volunteer if needed, during
business hours.
