DEPARTMENT: Office of the General Secretary - Archives
JOB TITLE: Researcher / Database Administrator (Full Time, 21 week Contract)
SALARY: $21.00 / hour
DESCRIPTION:
* Conducts research into Residential School administrative and operational records held in The General Synod Archives of the Anglican Church of Canada and establishes a database to manage collected information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Researches administrative and operational records held in the General Synod Archives
* Completes data entry of search results
* Maintains research statistics
* Prepares forms and reports
* Under direction of Archivist, photocopies files selected for transmission to Indian Residential School Resolutions Corporation and our legal counsel
* Prepares document transmission forms
* Supports the development of suitable archival research tools including but not limited to the Database containing information about operating and staffing former Anglican Indian Residential Schools in Canada
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Information Sciences degree or equivalent education and experience
* Excellent organization skills
* Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently and seek guidance when needed
* Shows discretion to deal confidentially with sensitive material
* Expertise in genealogical research
* Excellent written and spoken command of English
* Proficiency with MS Access, Excel and CSTextworks InMagic an asset
* Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality demonstrate adequate judgement in knowing when discretion is required
* Job requires lifting of library and archival materials up to 50 lbs.
