This is just a reminder that TAAG's annual fall tour and
pub night is taking place on Thursday, September 23rd.
This year's event is a tour of the CBC Archives, at 250
Front St. West (near the corner of Front and John streets).
The tour is to begin at 5:30. Following the tour we will
adjourn to The Elephant and Castle Pub at 212 King St.
West (at the corner of King and Simcoe streets). Come
out and join us for an educational and enjoyable evening.
TAAG is also sponsoring an "Electronic Records
Workshop" to be held on Thursday, October 28th, from
9:00am to 4:00pm.

Workshop Description:
This workshop will provide an introduction to the theoretical
and practical considerations involved in managing records in
electronic form. Some conceptual models for electronic records
programs will be explored, along with an overview of the
record-creating characteristics of information systems. As well,
the workshop will examine how preservation, media, and
migration issues are affected by the electronic records program
models. Other topics will include: strategies for managing records
such as email and word-processed documents; conducting an
inventory of a large database - a case study; strategies to
preserve websites at the University of Toronto; and scanning
and digitizing records.
