Please excuse cross postings.
Dear colleagues:
Duncan Grant's recent posting regarding the quickly approaching deadline
for proposals for papers or sessions at next year's conference in
Kingston has sparked a steady stream of submissions. On behalf of the
Program Committee, I can only add that more is merrier.
We ask that you take some time today to consider how you could
participate in this discussion of "How Other See Us: Archivists and
Society." Program funding, appraisal, arrangement, description,
reference services, outreach, technological change, and professional
development create many opportunities for interaction between
archivists, our colleagues in other disciplines, and society in
general. Exploring the complexities of these points of connection and
learning how we have suffered or benefited through these interactions
will put us in a stronger position to pursue our core archival functions
for the benefit of the communities that we serve.
The time has come to identify the issues you wish to explore, to enlist
the participation of funders, researchers, administrators, and other
stakeholders to add their perspectives to your session, and to fill out
the on-line proposal submission form that can be found on the ACA's
website at http://archivists.ca/conference/default.aspx. The Program
Committee looks forward to receiving your proposals, be they for
individual papers or complete sessions, and to seeing you in Kingson on
June 21-23, 2007. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact
the committee's Chair if you require additional information.
