This message is being posted for Andrew Thomson, President of the Guelph Historical Society, who is not a member of this listserve.
The Guelph Historical Society is actively seeking the Archives who now possesses most of the "Mosher" collection. Their dilemma is outlined by President Andrew Thomson, below:
"In May of this year I received a call from a man in Norwood Ontario. He had found a wooden box containing index cards at the side of Highway 7. He likes wood, so he took the box. The index cards are not old, and seem to be entries from a guide or directory for Guelph with dates from the 1830s to 1860s. He offered me these in my capacity as the President of the Guelph Historical Society. I now have the cards which are labeled a to g. He called back some time later saying he had returned to the location where he got the box to see if there were more.
The owner was a bit annoyed and told him that the cards were part of something called the "Mosher" collection. The collection was to have been taken by "history people at Trent" she told my correspondent, but they were disappointed not to have it all. I tried contacting Trent, but have not heard anything. Perhaps more information is available. I would like to give the cards to whoever has the rest of the collection."
