Four exciting opportunities exist with the Archives of Ontario to work in a team environment as Senior Archivists on the Collections Development & Management or Customer Service teams. Archivists at the Archives of Ontario acquire and manage records with high evidential, informational and legal value documenting the key activities and decisions of the Government of Ontario and the development of Ontario society. You will: appraise and acquire archival records from government and private sources, accession newly acquired records into the container tracking system, arrange and describe records according to institutional standards, provide reference services to clients, participate in outreach activities, mentor new and junior staff, provide leadership to colleagues, prepare project plans and lead processing projects for large acquisitions, provide expert advice on archival practices to management and other staff at the Archives. 

Qualifications:  Sound knowledge of archival science, Ontario history and archival descriptive standards; extensive archival experience in appraisal, acquisition, arrangement and description, preservation and access issues, including a demonstrated ability to appraise electronic record-keeping systems; demonstrated strong communication, customer service, group leadership, interpersonal and negotiation skills; demonstrated ability to set priorities with advanced organizational skills, provide guidance to other team members, use good judgement, to work with minimal supervision; ability to lift and move 35-50 lb containers of archival material.
