The Corporation of the Town of Deseronto is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals for the Part Time Position of Archivist.

The Corporation of the Town of Deseronto possesses a growing archival collection of municipal and non-municipal documents, photographs, and other archival records.  The municipality wishes to ensure this material is organised and stored to current archival standards and available for use by staff and the public.  

Working in conjunction with the Town of Deseronto Archives Board, the principal duties of the Archivist will include:

	*	Identifies, selects and appraises municipal and non-municipal records of archival value.  Receives, assesses, and accessions donations of suitable archival materials from external sources.
	*	Provides regular reports to the Archives Board on acquisitions and activities and works with the Board to establish programme priorities, budgets, etc.
	*	Arranges, classifies and describes municipal and non-municipal records of archival value according to accepted professional standards and practices. Maintains electronic database.  Creates and maintains finding aids.
	*	Manages storage areas and movement of records.
	*	Prepares archival presentations, exhibitions, and articles for publication.
	*	Performs other archival duties and responsibilities as required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

	*	Archives Technician Diploma or suitable equivalent combination of education and experience or suitable equivalent.
*	Knowledge of the following: Arrangement & Description, Records management methods, Database management, Archival theory, Preservation practices, The regulatory framework regarding access and privacy issues.
*	Experience working in a computerised environment, with word processing, spreadsheets, and database programmes.
*	Ability to work with the public
*	Supervisory experience, students, volunteers
	*	Ability to function independently and with minimal supervision
	*	Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
	*	Excellent oral and written communication skills 

Hours:		Part-time, Approximately 12 hours/week
Honorarium:	$7500
