Re: a Hayek-Riegel correspondence - The Hayek archives does not contain 
any correspondence file for Riegel. Does MaCallum have access to 
Riegel's own archives?  Perhaps that is where it is to be found...
In any event, the disparaging footnote about Riegel in 
"Denationalization of Money" is Hayek's own, not the editor's. Note that 
the sentence with the footnote is in a section titled "... and Banking 
Cranks." Hayek apparently perceived Riegel to be a crank, this despite 
Irving Fisher having been drawn to his work.
As to the name for Hayek's new currency, on that I have not a clue, but 
it is indeed an interesting question.
