Though this information risks to be useful to Italian subscribers only, 
who, however, seem to be a significant subset, the most complete discussion 
of the issue  and relevant literature is by Giacomo Becattini, Il concetto 
di 
industria e la teoria del valore, Torino, Boringhieri 1962. It develops 
themes raised by Andrews's 1951 paper in Oxford Studies in the Price 
Mechanism, which is also relevant to understanding the Marshallian 
tradition.
