Does your organization run an innovative education program? Would you
like to share your achievements with Ontario's archival community?

We invite you to join a panel discussion on educational programming and
archives at the upcoming AAO Conference in Thunder Bay, June 15 to 17,
2011.

The proposed session:

In an increasingly demanding technological environment, a model for
modern archives requires innovation in user engagement. Some archives
across the province have created educational programs, many of them
curriculum-linked, that use archival documents to connect Ontario
students to their ancestors, communities and government. These students
will go on to become champions of archives, advocating for our
collective memory.

The panel will highlight the importance of an enterprise-wide approach
that supports common initiatives towards an archives' education mandate.

Discussion themes will also include:

*	Moving from educational theory to the development of innovative
programming;
*	Exploring a "Yes, you can touch it" approach to enrich students'
and teachers' experiences with archival records;
*	Examining the role of archivist as learning facilitator;
*	Overcoming barriers to learning by examining student perceptions
of archival records;
*	What's next for education and archives?

If you would like to be a part of this panel, please send your
expression of interest no later than Thursday, March 10, 2011 to
Michelle Foggett, Senior Coordinator, Educational Programming at
[log in to unmask] or 416-212-2036.
