The United Church of Canada/Victoria University Archives is undergoing a
program renewal exercise over the coming months. This letter is designed
to inform you of the project, its objectives and timeframes, and to
invite you to participate in the consultations being undertaken.

The UCC/VU Archives is a cooperative venture, jointly funded and managed
by the United Church of Canada and Victoria University. The Archives has
a long history having originated in 1940, holding Church documents
dating back to 1739.

The UCC/VU Archives is considered a leading repository in the ecumenical
community. All parties involved with the Archives agree that it is a
rich resource, holding a historically significant collection of archival
records. The Archives is a steward of an important part of Canadian,
Church and University history and it is the goal of this project to
ensure that its priceless collection is maintained in an organized,
sustainable and accessible manner for many years to come.

The United Church of Canada and Victoria University have jointly
appointed a Task Force to oversee this renewal exercise. Bain Group
Consulting, of Kingston Ontario, has been contracted to carry out the
review. The project began April 1, 2005 and will be completed June 15,
2005. The Commitment of the Archives' partners and the Consultant will
make this timeframe feasible and achievable.

If you would like to comment on the future directions of the UCC/VU
Archives, please contact the lead consultant, Kimberly Bain. Comments
are welcomed by phone, fax mail or e-mail until May 20, 2005.
