ACTING SPECIAL COLLECTIONS ARCHIVIST
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Working under general direction, provide program continuity for the
Research Library's Special Collections. Apply professional archival
principles, concepts, techniques and methodology to appraising,
processing, arranging, preserving, describing, and preparing for storage
the papers of Canadian artists as already received or as proposed for
deposit.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* MAS, or MISt (Archival specialist), plus minimum 2 years related
experience in government or other archives
* Knowledge of Canadian art history
* Up-to-date knowledge of archival principles, practices and
techniques, including RAD (Rules for Archival Description) and all
relevant access, privacy and copyright legislation
* Knowledge of information management and information technology
* High level of written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent organizational and analytical skills and judgment
* Demonstrated ability to conduct research, and to synthesize and
interpret information
* Self-directing and with creative problem-solving skills
Temporary full-time position; anticipated start date of August 22, 2005
up to September 1, 2006.
