For more information, see the volunteer Librarian job description (below

You don't have to be a librarian - you just have to have a keen interest
in queer resources (books, movies, magazines) and a keen interest in
library work. And you don't have to be queer (gay, lesbian, bisexual,
transgendered) - you just have to have an interest in resources and
services for the queer communities in the Guelph area.

Note: If you're interested in becoming a volunteer librarian, but the
application process scares you, call me at Out On The Shelf and we can
arrange a time to do the application verbally: 519-515-0691.

Thank you,

Michele Collins

Volunteer Librarian

Out On The Shelf (OOTS), Guelph's queer library and resource centre,

library of resources that are of special interest to the queer
community. Currently OOTS carries over 1500 resources including fiction
and non-fiction for children, young adults, and adults, magazines,

By making queer-specific resources accessible to the local queer

More than a library, Out On The Shelf is also a resource centre. OOTS
provides public access to a diverse range of programming, such as our
monthly movie and games nights, and services, such as well as the Guelph
Queer Resource Guide, a community events calendar, and a bi-monthly
electronic newsletter.

The centre is staffed regularly so that the community can come and
access resources, find out about the diverse range of local events and
services, and share a queer* friendly space.

The successful candidate will participate in teaching, reference,
collection development and liaison activities in the community. The
librarian will facilitate the Library Committee and will maintain
liaison with the Collective and volunteers. The successful candidate
will participate in the shared decision-making of the Collective as well
as in the Library Committee.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
