How would you like to manage the Government of Ontario Art Collection?
If you have a passion for art and experience in curatorial practices,
archival methods and conservation, then this opportunity is for you!
  
In this role, you will:
* develop and manage programs for the effective utilization, visibility
and preservation of the collection
* research, document and evaluate the collection
* liaise directly with the offices of the Lieutenant Governor, Premier,
Speaker and other senior officials of the government on all matters of
the art collection
* prepare briefing notes and correspondence for the minister and deputy
minister relating to the collection
* manage media inquiries related to the collection, act as spokesperson
for specific issues such as exhibits and security
 
What we are looking for:  

Technical Knowledge:
* you have knowledge of museum practices
* you have proven ability to plan, develop, coordinate and supervise
programs which include conservation and the effective display and
exhibition of the collection
* you have knowledge of contemporary and historical art and the general
history of Ontario
* you have knowledge of principles and techniques of historical
research, archival methods, conservation and curatorial practices
* you have knowledge of preservation theory and practices and current
restoration practices and procedures
* you have knowledge of safe handling and disposal techniques for
hazardous materials, the use of technical equipment, the operation of
personal computers and specialized software programs and databases

Communication Skills and Judgement:
* you have excellent communication skills to document, research and
communicate results to the public, the media and internal clients
* you are able to demonstrate judgement and discretion in dealing with
politicians, changes in government and Cabinet shuffles

Organization Skills:
* you have organization and administrative skills, initiative and the
ability to work independently
