Subject: [Arcan-l] Job Opportunity -- George Brown College Archives

George Brown College Archives in Toronto, Ontario seeks an Archives
Assistant for a 12 week summer project sponsored by Young Canada Works
(approximate, flexible dates: May 28-August 16, 2013). The Archives
Assistant will be responsible for the discovery and digitization of material
crucial to the accreditation and verification of past George Brown College
students and graduates. At the end of this project, George Brown College
Archives' entire collection of course outlines will be digitized and made
available for upload to a new George Brown College Archives website
currently under development.

The successful candidate will be enrolled in a Masters of Archival Studies
program, Master of Information Studies program, or equivalent, and will have
completed at least one year of study. S/he should have completed coursework
on Rules for Archival Description and have at least a basic understanding of
the principles of arrangement and description of textual records, in both
paper and electronic forms. Archival research skills using finding aids in
both paper and electronic forms will be necessary, as will the use of search
software. The employee will also be required to familiarize her/himself with
and effectively use digitization hardware and software.

The position pays $16 per hour, for 35 hours per week. The candidate must
meet the eligibility requirements of Young Canada Works.
