YMCA CANADA - PROJECT ARCHIVIST

YMCA Canada invites applications for a full time temporary position as a
Project Archivist. The project involves arranging, describing, and
re-housing a key series from the YMCA Canada fonds, according to the Rules
for Archival Description. The Project Archivist will work independently
with both textual material and photographs, consulting with YMCA Canada'a
Archivist.

The records to be arranged and described for this project document the
significant contributions made by one of the oldest social movements in
Canada (the Canadian YMCA movement is celebrating its 150th anniversary
this year). The YMCA Canada Archives was established in May 2000 to ensure
that the rich history of the Canadian YMCA movement be preserved and made
accessible to YMCA staff and the general public.


Duties:
- Background research
- Appraisal and selection
- Arrangement
- Description
- Physical processing

Qualifications or requirements:
- At least one year of training in archival principles and practices
from a recognised post-secondary institution
- Experience using the Rules for Archival Description

Duration:
- The duration of the project is 8 months of full-time work; alternatively,
the position could be full-time for the summer months and continue on a
part-time basis during the school year.

Salary:
$14.00/ hour
