A New Publication from the Internet Scout Project:

The Scout Report for Business & Economics
==================================================

The Internet Scout Project of the Computer Sciences Department at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison announces the start of a new free
electronic publication designed for the higher education community. The
target audience of the new Scout Report for Business & Economics is
faculty, students, staff, and librarians in the business and economics.
Each biweekly issue offers a selective collection of Internet resources
covering topics in the field that have been chosen by librarians and
content specialists in the given area of study.

The new Subject Specific Scout Report for Business & Economics joins two
other new reports announced earlier -- one for Science & Engineering and
one for Social Sciences. All were designed with advice from academics in
each field and the librarians who serve them.

September 25 marks the release of the first issue of the Scout Report for
Business & Economics. The three new reports are available via email or on
the Web site:

http://scout.cs.wisc.edu/scout/report

Goals of the Subject Specific Scout Reports:

* To expand the Internet Scout Project's existing current awareness
services by providing the higher education community with information that
is specific to a given field of study

* To continue research into the cataloging and archiving of electronic
resources with expansion of the content of the Scout Report Signpost, a
database of selected Internet resources, to include highly specialized
resources

* To investigate and implement new subject-based delivery techniques on the
Internet using the subject specific resources archived and cataloged in the
Signpost

The Scout Report for Business & Economics:

The first issue of the Business & Economics report is now available on the
Web site and is being directly sent to over a thousand people who have
already subscribed to the Business & Economics report mailing list. (If you
did not subscribe to the mailing list yet but would like a plain text email
version of the first Business & Economics issue, send mail to

below to illustrate the content that will be offered in each Business &
Economics report. All three Subject Specific Scout Reports will be
