If we strech utility to utilitarian, Schumpeter credits the ideas to 
Augustine in C.1300 (page 91) and Epicurius C. 300 B.C. (page 66).  Page 
numbers are from Schumpeter, I certainly don't have access to the 
originals.  Anyway, given the above, it seems likely that the "first 
use" of utility is somewhat of a subjective decision.
