Many thanks to Bob Hirst for suggesting that the erroneous
report by Frank Kelsey of Twain having a half brother in
Louisville, KY was in reality a misidentification of Henry
Watterson -- a cousin by marriage.

In Watterson's autobiography _Marse Henry_ he writes that he had
employed Will S. Hays, the "rival of Foster as a song writer" as a
reporter on the Courier-Journal.

It seems much more plausible that Twain and Charles Klapproth
visited Henry Watterson and Will Hays on that Kentucky pilgrimage
as reported by Kelsey in _Drinking with Twain_.

Unfortunately, Kelsey's memoir seems to be the only documentation
of a visit to the Old Crow distillery -- so far.
