Subject: Re: [SHOE] Hayek and Kinji Imanishi: Nature, Human Beings and Civilization

According to the postscript [atogaki] to the book,
Hayek's dialog with Imanishi (3 times) and Takeo Kuwabara (1904-1988,
once) as well as his lecture at Kyoto University were broadcasted from NHK.
Kuwabara was specialized in oriental history.
No economists, except Masahiko Aoki, attended the lecture.

Unfortunately we cannot talk to Toshinao Yoneyama (1903-2006), who took
care of Hayek's visit to Kyoto and was involved in the interpretation
project, either. He was a cultural anthropologist.

(Only) Specialists in Hayek might be able to make access to the NHK
Archives.

As Robert knows, there are at least 2 Japanese specialists in Hayek.
They could search for the video tapes or interpret the relevant part in
detail in their contributions.

Hayek and the Japanese scholars discussed the different outlook of natures
including the shape of mountains in Europe, Australia, NZ and Japan.
Hayek also called attention to the different uses of "culture".
He preferred to use the word "tradition" rather than "culture" in his
context.
