"...(he) was particularly vicious toward the Irish"?  I thought that in
_Roughin It_, he spoke warmly about the Irish in the West and decried any
descriminatory actions against either the Chinese or the Irish.

Am I that far off base?   Could anyone cite passages demonstrating this
racism?
