I teach Leacock's _Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town_ in a Canadian Lit course.  He's often referred to as the Canadian Mark Twain.  His background is entirely different, but he has a dry and self-deprecating sense of humor and often writes about the foibles of small town folk.  Glad you're liking _Arcadian Adventures_.  I'll have to check it out.
