Taylor Roberts' recent comment--that the MT Forum now has over 100
subscribers, and that the list is in something of a lull--stirred this
note.
First, someone on the list a while back (2-3 months?) recommended
David Carakeet's fantasy novel about Twain called "I Been There Before."
With apologies for not having noted your name, thanks. I enjoyed the novel
thoroughly and would recommend it to other Twain buffs looking, perhaps,
for some holiday reading. It's fun.
Second, I have hesitated to jump into this Forum because I didn't
know who comprises it, with what goals. That is, do most of you folks
have a professional interest in MT (e.g., scholars in American Lit)?
I don't; my degrees are in other fields, and I work in administration
at Penn State. This BITNET list--unlike the others to which I belong,
dealing with mundane things like university planning, assessment, etc.--
is my one E-mail indulgence of a strictly personal interest.
Any volunteers out there willing to say who you are & why you're on
the list? Thanks!
