Is not the history of a church part of the history of religion, which also includes the
history of theology?
 
And also apropos of an earlier exchange, would one, in doing history of religion, define
religion only in terms of one's preferred system of theology?  I think not.  This might
leave gray area in re magic and superstition, but not involve omission of world religions
and less comprehensive ones.
